Black mirror is a British Science Fiction Television series which is currently ongoing since 2011 with each episode of a unique storyline and unexpected ending. Black mirror explores the advancements of technology and how this affects the world of which the episodes take place. In the era where you would expect the advantage of introducing the systems of technology also shows the disadvantages of the ideas.

The Entire History of You is an episode of the black mirror series where the world is now controlled through the use of a new technology known as the “Grain” The Grain is a microchip that is implanted just under a person’s ear. With this Microchip it collects your memory, Information about you and it is also a virtual reality escape. With the grain you can recall past memories through the use of a remote-like device that controls how you use the grain. For example you can project your past memories into any Tv. screen, you can zoom in to certain points of your memories and even turn up the volume if you couldn’t hear what a person was saying clearly. The grain is also used as proof of innocence, we see this when the Main Character Liam is crossing the border and is asked by security to present his Grain in order to access and assess the last 24 hours of Liam’s past. One moment in this episode really struck me Liam and his wife Ffion are having sex but are actually using the grain to watch their past sex memories while in the act in present time. This was striking to me as it shows that this Grain keeps you at a psychological hold from living in the present. This was shown through Liam become increasingly paranoid at the suspicions of his wife’s infidelity.
