Synopsis

My Video Installation for my idea of male masculinity will include multiple scenes of what challenges male faces when having to live up to the standard that is required by society. What is acceptable to be a man and the struggles males face struggling in silence when it comes to feelings and emotions. The main Character who is being played by myself opens the being of the performance in a dark meaningless room. A light turns on and beams towards me to target the main subject of the video installation. Behind myself are images displayed such as “Be a Man” “Grow Some Balls” “Man Up” you won’t be able to see these at the beginning so clear. As we share a moment with JJ the scene transitions into an exterior environment. This is done to show the expectation that I am put at when being outdoors where the eyes of the world have a clear view how I may be and what I will react to.

Proposal

I propose to create a short video installation about male masculinity and how men are expected to be today.

I feel this is a powerful and important subject to address.

The target audience for this is very wide.

I feel both male and female, young and old would watch this. I feel keeping it short will allow it to fit and suit any media platform for example, Advertising and Social media.

I will be shooting this video in the TV studio so I can control the lighting.

I will be keeping the video simple so it has more impact and the audience will focus on the message I want to say.

The video will have just one actor (Male)

I plan on shooting this video over 1 day and 1 day will be planned to re-shoot if it did not go well.

Props I will be using for my FMP

Keeping it simple…

For my Final Major Project piece, I will be using black paper as the text font I as I need to highlight the words I will be saying in my piece also it’s easier to edit on black paper as the you know the borders and perimeter that the text needs to stay in. I will be holding the paper with the messages on, this will edit the video at a slow pace for the audience to read and digest the information on the paper.

Equipment list for Production & Post Production.

Canon 600D

For my Project I will be using this camera to film my performance in the TV studio. It is Full HD and comes compact with a range of different settings to suit what I will be filming on the day. It does not react well in the dark so lighting will be used.

Tripod

For my project, I will be using a Manfotto Tripod. This will be needed for my Project as I will need to film a still shot for my project and using a tripod will keep the camera still and steady. The camera will be locked off so the tripod is very important.

SD Card

10 speed SD will be used. 32gb will have enough space to film the whole video.
